Nose: Zesty, sweet, fruity. Something toffee-like. Fruit toffees! What were those old fruit toffee sweets? Toffos? A little bit of spicy wood. A hint of ripe banana. The nose is wonderful and is making my mouth water. And so it should! You can tell this is going to be very juicy.
Mouth: Sweet and fizzy. Very fizzy. Salty and juicy. Yup, very juicy.
Finish: Fruity juice giving way to salty and pepper. Surprisingly peppery. Woah, hot! There’s a bitterness at the death like dark chocolate coffee-flavoured sweets.
Comments: At first taste this was too winey for me like the sherry was overpowering slightly. But after a couple more goes it sat back and didn’t demand the attention any more. The nose is superb and whets your appetite for the dram, as a good whsiky should. Perhaps a little to rough on the finish but overall a very good dram. I still can’t help but feel that this would’ve been better with less sherry influence, though.
Edit: The winey-ness is back again. I can’t quite get to grips with that.
