Bladnoch 19yo 54.6%
Colour: Pale gold – gold.
Nose: There was an odd initial stink but it seems to have gone now. Perhaps it’s been lying in the sample bottle too long. Anyway, apple now and cinammon. A touch of something like carbolic soap. Grassy. Something medicinal again that I can’t pinpoint. A little bit of vomit/bile now. This is odd. And now something floral. Vegetal now.
Mouth: Barley and citrus. Good fizz on the tip of the tongue and a nice oily feel. Not too bitter at the back. A hint but not unpleasant.
Finish: Quite dry and smoky but there’s an oily sweet and bitterness that lingers long.
Comments: This dram is a bit schizophrenic. It the Jekyll and Hyde of whiskies. There’s a nasty, sick side, but also a sweet and fruity side. Bonkers.
